A Stretch Class Made Just For Men
After thousands of stretch classes taught, and hundreds of men’s bodies stretched, one thing has been made crystal clear: Men’s bodies definitely do their own thing when it comes to stretching. There are natural physical attributes that make men, men, but they are also what prevent their flexibility from improving in a measurable, meaningful way.
Because of pelvis immobility, strong hips and shoulders, it is difficult for men to articulate their spines, and if you can’t articulate your spine, you’re kind of stuck in a chunk. That’s how men tend to move – in chunks. The whole torso or the whole trunk and the whole arm or whole leg, as one piece.
You know, like ribbon candy.
It is because of this that men repeatedly hit the same wall in their quest for better flexibility. But with an understanding of how the body works, and some retraining techniques, those walls come down and improving male flexibility is well within reach.
It just takes zeroing in on where the strength in men’s bodies makes them tight. First and foremost is the pelvis. Think of all the muscles that attach from the upper body down to the hips and from the lower body up to the hips. The pelvis is the cross-section of everything, the epicenter, if you will. So, if you can learn to articulate your pelvis, it leads to better control of your spine wherein you can then access – and stretch – parts of your body that you never thought were possible.
Second, it helps to think about the shoulders being a mirror image of the hips, but just inverted, upside-down. The strength in men’s shoulders, also create a similar problem: it inhibits mobility, which creates an inability to isolate the parts of your body that you need to control in order to stretch.
The main point here is that you have to be able to move everything if you want to stretch anything. The idea that you can put your body in a position and stretch, but then not move it (or move in “chunks”) is highly flawed. It’s why people stretch all the time and wonder why their flexibility doesn’t improve. With men, they just assume they are not flexible. But that’s not necessarily the case. The case, more often than not, is that they lack the knowledge they need to train their bodies correctly and effectively.
This is why we created a stretch just for men. We teach you how to create movement where it matters. They are Lastics signature micro-moves and they will transform your body, flexibility and understanding of what it means to stretch.
